PETALUMA, Calif.–()–Enphase Energy today announced its Microinverter System powers a 660kW solar farm located near Delavan, Wis., the second largest solar installation in the state. Convergence Energy LLC, a Wisconsin-based full-service integrator of solar energy systems, developed the 14-acre site, which is the first in Wisconsin to allow qualified individuals to own part of a solar farm. Referred to by Convergence as Networked Solar, those who may not otherwise be able to go solar, due to space restrictions or other issues on their properties, can still derive the potential economic and environmental benefits of a solar installation.
“We saw many potential customers prevented from enjoying the financial and environmental benefits of solar because their properties couldn’t accommodate an array”
“Our customers are installing Enphase microinverters in applications ranging from rooftops to trackers to carports, and, like Convergence Energy, they are using our technology as a platform to deliver new and innovative solar solutions,” said Paul Nahi, CEO of Enphase Energy. “This 660kW solar farm marks one the largest Enphase system currently in operation in the United States.”
The Convergence Energy Solar Farm site hosts 99 dual axis trackers utilizing nearly 2,000 Enphase Microinverters. Helios Solar Works provided solar modules for the trackers sourced from OPEL Solar Inc. and DEGERenergie. Dual axis trackers were chosen to maximize energy production, which represents an estimated 30 percent increase in energy harvest over fixed mount arrays. Enphase’s web-base monitoring and analysis software, Enlighten, enables the Networked Solar concept to operate with multiple systems and investors represented at the site.
“We saw many potential customers prevented from enjoying the financial and environmental benefits of solar because their properties couldn’t accommodate an array,” said Steve Johnson, vice president of business development with Convergence Energy. “Thanks to the intelligence and robust monitoring solution integrated into Enphase microinverters, we’re able to offer customers a solid solar investment and the ability to contribute to a cleaner environment.”
