Redpoint appoints new director to drive growth

London, February 15th, 2010 – Redpoint Energy, which recently celebrated five successful years as one of Europe’s leading energy consultancies, today announced that Ilesh Patel, former Head of Energy, Utilities and Services (EUS) business Europe at Infosys, is joining the company as a director.

Patel has more than 15 years of business consulting experience in the energy and utilities industry. Prior to working at Infosys, Patel enjoyed management roles at Caminus Energy and Director positions at SunGard Energy. At Infosys, where he worked for five years, Patel led the business through a period of record year on year growth. In addition to his head of EUS in Europe responsibilities, he also served on Infosys’s management council where he helped define and drive the company’s strategy.

Talking about his decision to join Redpoint, Patel commented: “Redpoint has come a long way in just five years. It’s firmly established as a thought leader and trusted advisor to both the private sector and government. The directors have created a strong culture based around thought leadership, intellectual curiosity and their people’s ability to help solve clients’ difficult questions, thus becoming trusted advisors to our clients. As such, it’s a tremendously invigorating and inspiring place to work. Best known for its market advisory and policy and regulatory work, Redpoint is also establishing a strong reputation for providing utility companies, new entrants and investors with high quality strategic and operational advice, centred around sophisticated analysis and toolkits. Using my experience of growing businesses I am hoping to expand the services that Redpoint offers in these areas and make a real impact on our clients and the industries we serve.”

Patel continued: “I am also hugely excited by the scale of the opportunity here. Redpoint is in a unique position in the market. With three practice groups, policy and regulation, investment and market advisory as well as operations and risk, Redpoint can offer a holistic view across all these important areas. No other company can provide this level of insight and the ability to apply it to today’s complex energy markets.”

Philip Grant co-founder and director of Redpoint commented, on Patel’s appointment: “Ilesh has outstanding credentials. From a management point of view his track record of helping businesses to grow is hugely impressive, while his high profile, international industry track record covers almost every conceivable area of the energy business.

We have experienced tremendous success over the last five years and we’ve been privileged to work on many high-profile consulting engagements for public and private sector clients. There is an ever-growing demand for our services and this is just the right time to bring on board someone of Ilesh’s calibre. He will be essential in helping us shape the business moving forward and key to implementing our ambitious growth plans. It promises to be a very exciting time for Redpoint and our sectors.”

Redpoint counts some of Europe’s largest energy companies and financial organisations, as well as government institutions as clients, most notably the UK’s Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC), Ofgem, the Committee on Climate Change and the European Commission. It advises on areas including investment strategies, energy transactions, utility strategy and energy policy and regulation.
